Frequently asked questions regarding Spraytex Weathershield external wall coatings.
If your question isn’t answered below, please feel free to give us a call to discuss.
Q. HOW IS THE WEATHERSHIELD SYSTEM APPLIED?
A. The Weathershield system can be applied either by roller or spray application.
Q. WHAT PREPARATION IS NEEDED PRIOR TO THE APPLICATION?
A. As with anything, preparation is the key. Our fully trained operatives will thoroughly power bio wash the walls to remove loose paint and contamination and kill any algae etc. After which, surface cracks are vee-ed out and filled with flexible fillers, the whole surface is then primer stabilised. A section at a time, windows and doors are masked out with paper and tape as are the floors and plants and the product is either sprayed or roller applied with a minimum of two coats.
Q. HOW LONG WILL THE PRODUCT LAST?
A. The manufacturers claim it has a life expectancy of a minimum of 15 to 20 years. All Weathershield contracts come with a 15 year warranty guarantee against chipping, flaking and peeling and curing penetrating damp.
Q. CAN I CLEAN THE WEATHERSHIELD COATING?
A. Definitely! It can be washed down with a conventional hose pipe or even power washed and if you wish we have a maintenance contract where every five years for a modest charge we can visit and clean all the walls and check the product is performing.
Q. HOW DOES IT COMPARE COST WISE TO A CONVENTIONAL PAINT SYSTEM?
A. It compares very favourably. Clearly it costs more than what a local painter and decorator would charge with a normal emulsion paint but bearing in mind the Weathershield coating takes two to three times longer to apply and the fact you will not have to paint or maintain your house for an absolute minimum of 15 years, the little extra you have to pay makes it very cost effective.
The Weathershield name is synonymous with quality, long-lasting exterior finishes.
